BETH’S LATE NIGHT BAKERY

My final assignment for Typography I was to create a menu design for a fictional restaurant. My mother is a fantastic baker and has been collecting recipe cards in a little box in our kitchen since before I was born. Some of the cards are transcribed from her favorite cookbooks, some are donated by friends, and some are even written by my grandmother or my great-grandmother. I took inspiration from these cards in the creation of Beth’s Late Night Bakery, a cozy bakery open late to appeal to college students coming in from a night out who may be craving a home-cooked treat. I used my mom’s handwriting and a few of her doodles in the design, and all of the menu items are taken from her repertoire.
