SEEDS OF US

Assignment for Design Studio II, May 2024
Watercolor, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop

Students were asked to create brands based off of assigned questions. I created Seeds of Us in response to the question “how can a brand create and present content that will cater to a diverse audience on the basis of factual and connection-oriented research”.

Seeds of Us seeks to help people strengthen long-distance connections while promoting biodiversity and the growth of native pollinators. Instead of sending postcards, customers can order mailable seed packets online that will be sent to a friend of their choice. Customers can choose between six themes: health; freedom; strength; protection; love; or luck. Each envelope contains seeds for three plants that symbolize the chosen theme and are native to the recipient’s region, in addition to a message from the customer, information about each plant, and removable stakes that can be used to label the plants once planted. The logo for Seeds of Us uses three concentric circles to evoke tree rings and community. Hand-painted watercolor drawings imitate plant cells and abstract the plants identified by each seed packet. The color palette has six colors, and each of the six themes is assigned one primary color and one secondary color. These colors and the color bands that run along the contents of each envelope help ensure continuity within each theme and distinguish each theme from the others.
